MOCK TRIAL

Third Annual Norse Invitational - October 28, 2006
The Luther Mock Trial teams placed third and eighth at the Invitational. Sixteen teams participated in the invitational including Central College, Drake University, Grinnell College, Hamline University, Loras College, Luther College, Morningside College, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, St. Louis University and Winona State University.
Luther’s team was established in 1986, helping students prepare for law school and learn the basics of critical thinking. Luther political science professor Michael Engelhardt and Decorah attorney Jim Burns of Miller, Pearson, Burns, Beatty and Cowie Law Firm advise the mock trial teams.
Sam Berndt, a Luther junior, received both outstanding witness and outstanding attorney awards. Luther sophomore Rebecca Olson received an outstanding witness award.
The Luther College Mock Trial Teams include Luther juniors Manoj Aryal, Sam Berndt, Stephanie Grace, Sarah Vail and Tyler Wiese; sophomores Johanna Bergan, Victoria Booth, Jenny Holst, Matt Neuberger, Rebecca Olson and Dain Schilling; freshmen Sonja Birthisel, Andrew Peterson and Mitchell Zoelzer.
